A Tempus time clock is where you record the start and finish of your shift, and any unpaid breaks, at the time clock itself. This article takes you through the whole process: signing in with your name and 4-digit PIN, clocking in, starting and ending an unpaid break, adding a note and clocking out.
Every visit to the time clock follows the same pattern. You find your name in the employees list, tap it and enter your PIN, and Tempus then opens a window for what you can do next. That window is slightly different depending on whether you are clocking in or are already clocked in, which is why the clock in window and the break and clock out window do not look the same.
The location and work type you choose are part of the record of your shift, so it is worth taking a few seconds to get them right each time. If you are unsure which to choose, check with your leader or supervisor.
You sign in the same way every time, whether you are clocking in, taking an unpaid break or clocking out.
On the main screen, find your name in the employees list. You can scroll through the list, or tap the search bar at the top and type your name.

Tap your name. It is now highlighted in blue, and a message above the keypad says "Hi [Your name]!". Then use the on-screen keypad to enter your 4-digit PIN.

If you cannot remember your PIN, you can reset it from the time clock. Tap your name in the employees list as usual, then tap "Forgot your PIN?" at the very bottom of the screen.

Tempus sends an email to your registered email address, which is the same address your payslips are sent to. The email contains the steps you need to follow to reset your time clock PIN.
⚠️ Note: The reset steps are only sent to your registered email address. If the email does not arrive, or you no longer have access to that address, please raise this with your payroll contact.
Once you are signed in, a pop-up window opens automatically. It shows your name, the time of day and the status of your shift, so you can see whether you are already clocked in, not clocked in yet, or on a break.
In this window you can also choose your location and your work type. You can add a note while you clock in, but we recommend saving any notes for the end of your shift (see "Adding A Note" below).
⚠️ Important: When you work on a public holiday, always select the specific work type for it. The work type is how those hours are identified as public holiday work, so choosing the wrong one can mean they are not paid as they should be.
When everything is filled in, tap "Confirm Clock In".

To start or end an unpaid break, or to clock out of your shift, sign in the same way: tap your name in the employees list, then enter your 4-digit PIN.
The window that opens is slightly different from the clock in window. Here you can start or end an unpaid break, or finish your shift by clocking out. Tap "Start Break" to begin an unpaid break, or "Clock Out" to finish your shift. When your break is over, sign in the same way and end it from this window.

To add a note about your shift, tap the white bar at the bottom of the pop-up window. A keyboard appears so you can type your note. When you have finished typing, tap "Done".

⚠️ Important: Tapping "Done" does not save your note on its own. To add the note to the system you must tap "Clock Out" to finish. That is why we recommend keeping any notes in mind until you are clocking out of your shift.
If you have any questions about using the time clock, please raise this with your payroll contact, who will aim to assist you.
