◾ Overview
A Leave Application (sometimes called a leave request) can be entered in by a manager on behalf of an end user for any planned (or) unplanned leave periods. A leave application records the:
- Type of leave being requested
- The duration/time period the leave application covers
- Any supporting documentation (e.g. certificate)
⚠️ NOTE: Sometimes Depending on your company policy, you may be required to ALWAYS provide supporting documentation (e.g. a copy of a certificate) for some leave applications. If you are unsure whether you need to provide supporting documentation, please raise this with your payroll contact; who will aim to assist you.

◾ Access Leave Applications via Tempus Platform
1. Login to your Tempus profile at secure.payrollbytempus.com
2. After you login; you will be presented with the Employee Management Dashboard. On the left hand side select Leave >> Create Leave Requests.
3. This will open up the Create Leave requests page. Here we need to go through the form and fill in the following details:
- The name of the user/employee you are submitting the application on behalf of
- The leave category (e.g. what type of leave are they applying for)
- The dates of the leave (start date and end date inclusive)
- Add any notes or attachments (optional or as required by your organisation)
5. Once you have entered in these details, Tempus will estimate the leave to be used for the leave application in the relevant units (e.g. Annual Holidays = Weeks, Sick Leave = Days). If for example, this is not appropriate for your leave application (e.g. half a day of sick leave) then you can override the "Leave Required" values where appropriate.
⚠️ EXAMPLE: If you ordinarily work Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, and you worked on Wednesday 9am to 1pm; then went home sick for 1pm to 5pm. It would be appropriate to override the "Leave Required" value to be 4 hours.
We also recommend you leave a brief note on your leave application, to inform your intention behind overriding the default values. This allows the person reviewing/approving your leave application to ensure it's reflected on the timesheet correctly also.
6. Once you have entered in all the details of the user/employee you are submitting on behalf of; if you have leave approval permission, you will have the option to "approve immediately" (if you have the permission to approve, this is check in by DEFAULT).
Adjust this as required, then click the Save button.
